“Send a photo to a partner that we cannot meet and whom we want to perceive our closeness.”

“I began this project at the beginning of the quarantine, almost two months ago, thinking “now that the photographers cannot meet the models, why not make the models themselves the photographers of the shooting?”

Besides, the” selfie “is one shot that everyone has tried and therefore and if this can be directed and you can give it a story, who knows how many stories can be told by that. But I didn’t want to talk about the quarantine (with masks and sanitizing gels) first of all because: in my opinion it’s quite a trivial theme, and secondly: because everything is already very sad and I did not want to put further weight on the topic. Instead, I thought that we could send a photo to a partner that we cannot meet and whom we want to perceive our closeness. This was done in the most varied way imaginable, each one of the models interpreting the story in a very personal way. The low definition of the images, as well as the different shooting points, the shots and the varied poses all add values that indicate the difficulty of the self-portrait, but therefore also their commitment in trying this.

None of it should be seen as flaws because all of them have expressed themselves, the way they could, through their own photographic idea. Through this variety, I chose to give as common point, the Polaroid’s frame, both to recall the instantaneity of the moment and to give at least a bit of coherence to so different shots.”
