“Here is another summer report, this time by Zenit. Keep enjoying! This Friday I’m going back to Bratislava. I’ll miss everything about Prague. Especially my roommate even though he’s oh-so untidy and always snores <3″ We stumbled over this wonderful posting MEMOIRS of a mermaid on Melisa Minca´s site, the blogger from Bratislava who we have already featured as well in our 30th birthday edition issue. Enjoy her and Martina Jánská a.k.a. MARTYNA wonderful impressions of the slowly fading away summer memories.

#standforsomething Dr. Martens Tour 2014 + win a pair of Dr. Martens of your choice !

$

We grew up with colourful hair, braids, piercings, Rave Parties, Platform shoes, Skateboards, Nirvana, Anarchistic punks and Dr.Martens. Not really giving a damn about anything rather than enjoying the moments of being young.

Not caring about anyone´s opinion of wanting us to care more about a solid future. We were the kind of “the future is now” generation. Always rebellious on the inside and showing it on the outside through our clothes. When recently the 90s fashion trend suddenly started to trickle slowly back into the mainstream fashion brands, and girls in Dr.Martens, round glasses, and belly Tee´s were waiting with me at the train station, long forgotten memories from that time came back like a flash. At that point I realised that I kept most of those rebellious thoughts inside but unfortunately didn´t keep any of the things I wore at that time ( I really should have!). But well…

Now talking about rebellious – we have just heard about Dr. Martens announcing its #standforsomething Dr. Martens Tour 2014 – headlined by the UK indie rock band Pulled Apart By Horses and the support by the English alternative rock band from Leeds Dinosaur Pile-Up. Both of those bands are definitely having influences from the 90s as well, and they will cause some serious headbanging time. In addition to these two Dr. Martens #standforsomething tour will also announce a special local guest band at each leg to complete the line-up. More information on further support acts and will be made available to fans in the coming weeks. To ensure you are the first to hear, register interest at www.drmartens.com/standforsomethingtour.

And yes more good news! We raffle one pair of Dr.Martens of your choice! Just send us an email to contact @ c-heads.com with the subject “Dr.Martens” until 28th of August and let us know what do you stand up for? The raffle ends automatically on the 28th August. The winner will be notified via mail.

Tourdates:
8th September – Maroquinerie, Paris
9th September – Molotow, Hamburg
10th September – Rust, Copenhagen

Story Telling: The world of Miranda Barnes

Miranda Barnes´s photography is all about youth and truth. “When it comes to my childhood, my parents worked very hard to raise me in the suburbs of Long Island, and for that I am grateful. I was able to grow up with practically no worries, my own room, backyard, and ultimately simplicity, something many kids get robbed of. The bad sides would probably have to be how tiny Long Island can be. Everyone knows everyone and their business, something I try to stay out of. ” she tells us. “It may sound cliche, but I do like capturing an honest expression out of a portrait or anything I take a photo of. I tend to document what’s already there and try to have the photo remain as natural as I possibly can. I hope I can turn my photos into more story-telling/photojournalism styled series, which is something I’ve been challenging myself with for the past couple months.”  Make sure to follow her lovely work on instagram aswell.

Muse Roxanne and Paris based photographer Jérémy Barniaud took a little escape to a beautiful countryside’s house in France for C-Heads. “We go away from the noisy city to appreciate the begining of summer, enjoy this sunny day and wildy running on the road.” We are blissful we could join that wonderful day by absorbing these natural images of raw and untamed moments.

Aaron Feaver for Stoned Immaculate Vintage “LAST DAZE OF DISCO” Lookbook

Stoned Immaculate Vintage drops a fantastic lookbook starring beauty Cora Keegan captured by Aaron FeaverEach piece they sell trough their store has been hand-selected and brings back the vibe of the good old times. “The year is 1978, it’s Saturday night & we’ve got the fever. Take a trip back to the Summer of ’78 where roller babes & disco queens rule the City of Angels with chunky platforms, oversized sunnies, swimsuits & shag coats. They sleep in until noon & spend their days by the pool sipping over-embelshied cocktails. They wear rollerskates to work, jumpsuits to the disco & carry a polaroid camera with them everywhere to capture the moment. They watch sunsets from Mullholand, blast Diana Ross on the radio & dance on the roofs of cars in glamorous dresses. They feel most at home under the diamond glow of the disco ball, and when they’ve got the fever, it’s the only cure.” We are so in love. Styled and directed by Chloe Chippendale, beauty by Matisse Andrews, hair by Jessica Cook, assistance by Dana Trippe and Cassidy Turner and chavelle courtesy of Dana Trippe.

All the way from Tokyo Hidemasa Miyake thrills us with his work full of power, from a world that seems so different and far away to us. Yet we feel so connected with the style of people and their beautiful, cool and serene expressions. Hidemasa delivers us portraits that own a documentary character, shining through with the personality of young people. And wow we are still amazed by this bedroom, crammed with toys, plush toys, books, comics and so on.

Feels like we have just disappeared into a delusion of colours. Photographer Palma Wright, who also did the rad styling and make up on this exclusive C-Heads story, definitely has a high affinity to multi-coloured stuff, and on her instagram she states “Raver Kid”, which seems to be another part of inspiration to her. Model Berit at Willhellmina LA has this cool animal-like look about her and just looks awesome in the Clothing by Mamadoux by Elliott Beach.

Teresa Cobo by Alina Lakitsch for C-Heads

When Alina met the fresh and versatile Teresa she became one of her muses. Since then, the shutter doesn’t seem to stop, always coming up with new ideas and doing fun stuff together. This time, to escape the city heat, Photographer Alina Lakitsch and model Teresa Cobo found a very quirky, odd motel –something unusual in Madrid- and decided to spend a weekend there. For the exclusive C-Heads shooting –all on 35mm film-, they had many movie and characters inspirations, from Lolita to Sophia Loren, passing through the old Hollywood and some indie filmmakers. The result is a mixture of all, recreating a very motel atmosphere dotted with freshness and glamor. Eye-catching styling was done by Paola Colón García-Cebada and Make-up and Hair by Nailistas. Photo Assistant was Israel Cascón. We love the super-strong charisma of this series, that makes you feel like floating in the water yourself.

Tauron Nowa Muzyka in pictures

Season of summer festivals is quickly reaching to its end, so we are trying to catch every last bit of it. Last weekend took place in Polish city of Katowice another need-to-see music festival – Tauron Nowa Muzyka. Its remarkable atmosphere and magic was captured by the camera of RYSA – who are Magdalena Toczek and Karolina Kaim - for C-Heads.

“The most impressive thing was that they’ve created totally separate, magical world in the centre of city as big, as Katowice. We were amazed of visual art and lights on every old, industrial building and the whole atmosphere of the festival. Also the underground part of Museum Śląskie was very impressive. We loved it.”

C-Heads Exclusive: FYF musical festival by Rafael Martinez

In 2004, 18yr old Sean Carlson started FYF Fest for the same reason you would start a band, out of boredom and a need to do something. Meanwhile this festival is in it´s 11th year and they found a new home at The Los Angeles Sports Arena & Exposition Park. Photographer Rafael Martinez joined last weekend and is back with a bunch of some lovely impressions on film. “I tried to do something personal about the festival, more about the people, the vibe, making friends, love and having fun.”
