Daydreamer

We have always been daydreamer. As far back as a child we were fascinated by the world of free thoughts. Ukraine, Kiev based Tasya Kudryk captured a dreamy story starring beauty Marusya Pianzina exclusive for C-Heads during her first trip to Moscow. “I met the wonderful talented person and russian designer Lesia Paramonova. The first evening when we met it was so clear that we are on the same wave with similar thoughts about art, design and life in general. And so we tried to create a beautiful fairy film story full of pureness and imagination in the middle of Moscow dormitory. Lesya Paramonova is inspired by nature and she creates a special world around her creations, so this is not an ordinary fashion story – this is real fairytale in the middle of Moscow suburbs where even plastic animals can be real.” Concept & style by Lesia Paramonova and make up done ny Katya Rodionova. Enjoy!

Darkside – that’s Nicolas Jaar and his buddy, guitarist Dave Harrington. Their debut album named Psychic easily jumped into our most played records of last year! The release which followed their self-titled EP from 2011 presents a proper groovy electronic music accompanied by Nico’s charming voice and Dave’s haunting guitar melodies. The two gentlemen have received lots positive feedback with this piece and will now go on a proper tour through the world. Below you can find the full list of cities, so make sure you won’t miss them!

In the meantime, you can watch Darkside in session specially for Boiler Room NYC:

SWEET, SEXY & SMART

The idols of the 70s: Sexy, daring and always top styled: How can you resist “Charlie’s Angels”? The Vienna based fashion house Popp & Kretschmer are celebrating their 125th year and therefore they thought of something very special for their catalogue shooting. Taking the three beauties Ida Asklöf at flairmodelmanagement, Nadine Wolfbeisser at nextcompany (which was the pretty model for our Wonderland Issue) and Fanny Francois at wienermodels and a super stylish luxury location they got started to show the colourful and varied pattern trends of the next season. This year photographer Rafaela Pröll is responsible for capturing the “Third time lucky”. Sascha Trefelik of Popp&Kretschmer has told us on the question when a woman is beautiful in his eyes: “A certain aura and a certain self-confidence makes you beautiful. Of course, not too much of the self-confidence but a good portion of it makes a woman beautiful.” Enjoy some making of images:

Omg! I read this news somewhere in the night and could not be happier. It seems the Iranian electronic Duo Deep Dish are finally planning a comeback. There are no further informations so far but we will keep an eye on it. Rumours have started already some time ago on, but in interviews they were never saying anything specific on this. What a great start into 2014 with this news – you need to know that they are our favorite electronic artist ever and we can´t wait to get some new stuff to listen to. When they work together in the studio there is always something magic coming out, which reaches far more people than just fans of electro music. With songs like “Flashdance” or “Say hello” they got ya all, right?

Perfect memories fall down like ashes

Sometimes it does not take much for a beautiful story. Italian based photographer Roberto Lazzaro captured a very soft and intimate series for us – featuring model Nina Sever. (and a cute cat of course) Nina talks on the shooting: “I my own wanted to transmit a sense of sensuality through a memory, it’s something a woman does when she’s alone and when she has her time to reflect about her past and to understand what she really looks for in a man! Sometimes she lets herself go to the fantasy, sometimes she closes her mind not to suffer, that’ why in few pictures you can see me a bit sad or thoughtful maybe.” <3

Freestyle and creative fashion photography – A talk with Henry Gorse

“The memory of the creation becomes a thing itself, and the act of making the photograph is a performance, this is what inspires me.”

Henry Gorse shares with us his steps and inspirations that lie within in his photography career. The young photographer comes from a small village called Ravensmoor, in North West England and he is currently residing in London.
Always with his camera, it was after his father passed away that he began using it in a more serious way “This is my driving force”.
His work has influences of fine art that he conveys to the fashion world, thereby creating creative photos with a “je ne sais quoi” of playfulness environment.

How did the fact that you lived on a farm influence you as a photographer?

It allowed me to develop a certain mentality.
All the hard work, stress and responsibility set me up well for life in London and life in general.
In terms of the way I shoot, I developed an appreciation for nature around me; this has defiantly remained in my work and become an important part of it.

How was moving to London? What was your first feeling?

It was amazing but terrifying at the same time, I think for the first month, most days I spent walking around getting lost with a 35mm in disbelief somewhere exists like this in England.
Moving to London defiantly raised the bar and made me realize the hard work was about to start.

What is your work ethic?

To create a style which becomes completely my own by blending fashion and art with an injection of English humor .

Your photos are creative, colorful and fun. What is the best part of being a photographer? What are your inspirations?

From a silly idea I get daydreaming, I can make it happen simply by working with other like-minded individuals. You can create any elaborate idea in front of you and experience the process of it with others. The memory of the creation becomes a thing itself, and the act of making the photograph is a performance, this is what inspires me. The final results of the photographs have the potential to inspire people, all of this has stemmed from a raw idea and then escalated because enough people believed in it. That’s a pretty powerful thing.

A word that describes your work.

FREESTYLE.

How did the opportunity to enter the fashion world come about? You always had a taste for this area?

I was drawn to the fashion image as it allows you to create something completely original, every single factor you have control over to make it your own.
I began working at Curtain Road Studios as manager a year ago. Meeting and looking after the teams of Tim Walker, Alasdair McLellan and Paul Buller gives you a good insight into how things work and how to apply them to your own practice.

The relationship that you establish with the model is conveyed in the final work?

Depending on the nature of the shoot really.
It’s always important to get your idea across; the model is responsible for capturing the feeling you are trying to convey.
Every shoot you want a positive vibe for people to feed off, I like to play on the role of the model, and it’s interesting when their personality adds to my direction, that’s when I know I’ve got something special.

What was the biggest lesson you learned being behind the camera?

You are in control of everything in front of you; if you don’t follow your own instinct then you have a lot to ask yourself.
There is a lot of negativity around people who express themselves; you have to become immune to it to succeed .

A remarkable moment.

Realizing the dream is possible.

What is your favorite photo so far? Why?

Its hard to pick out an individual favorite.
I hope the next one!

Next year you want …

More Printed Editorials, Big Ideas and a fan named stan.

Upcoming Projects.

Becoming so focused on fashion editorials I have put my fine art projects on hold for now.
I would love to travel and document a group of individuals; I think I will do that one day.

We travelled with Lauren Engel already on many beautiful places around the world –  like Israel f.e. For Spring Break she decided to visit Montreal. And at this point I need to say that I am very very jealous.  I always wanted to go there but still didn´t manage it to get over the ocean. “Montreal is just so stunning. I really want to visit again during the summer to get a different vibe of this beautiful city” Oh yes!

Back to Black – Dawid Tomaszewski´s latest AW14/15 collection at the Berlin Fashion Week was embedded within autumn leaves lying on the runway. Floating fabrics, assymetrical drapings, woolen and feather coats – and everything held in the classical black combined with a bit of dark grey as well. Our favourite look is image 5, we just love how the dress flatters the pretty redhead. All images are shot by Juan Felipe for C-Heads.

That we are huge Sopopular fans we have mentioned already. So our expectations for the show were high. And we loved everything about it. Strong music, intense and edgy models and fashion that transmits a sense of power and coolness. “For the inspiration we’ve looked back on the whole work that we’ve done so far and mixed it with some new twists.” says designer Daniel Blechmann, who collaborated with Marina Hoermanseder for the leather harness accessories.  We will soon also have some backstage impressions for you – in the meantime enjoy some Catwalk shots by Juan Felipe for C-Heads.

Gacha unveils new EP for Apollo records

$

If there is one thing about Apollo records one needs to know, it is that it can always find such good talents… anywhere in the world! However, Georgia based producer Gacha is not a newbie on this imprint. After his premiere Remember EP, he comes back with some fresh new material, which also presents the collaboration with the stunning vocalist Natalie Beridze.

Born in a seaside town of Batumi in Georgia, Gacha has already played the guitar since he was 10 years old. Later he even played with a few indie bands. Everything has changed when he moved to the capital… “When I moved to Tbilisi with my family, I didn’t know anyone and therefore had a lot of time for music. I stayed at home and played the guitar all day long.” It was back in the day of 2008. Since that, Gacha has come quite a long way.

Following up his previous EP, Gacha continues on the new one in calm electronic waters. Although, the new EP named When The Watchman Saw The Light mainly reveals his talent for combining pieces of various electronic noises with soaring guitar riffs. Influenced by the sounds of Boards of Canada, Arthur Russell over John Cage to early UK garage and Detroit techno/house, there is no surprise that in his sound can be found such a diversity. Besides dreamy tracks like Saysea or Atlas there are also dance-floor friendly pieces…

A beautiful bonus of the new Gacha music is the presence of Georgia based vocalist Natalie Beridze. Her tender and magic voice adds just more of dreamy and fragile atmosphere. And as he revealed to us, it’s not an one-time collaboration! “Me and Natalie are continuing to work on new music and I’m fully concentrated on making an album for R&S/Apollo records.” Well, looks like there are many good things we can look forward to from this guy!

You can see Gacha performing live with Natalie Beridze in Brussels on 27th March 2014.
When The Watchman Saw The Light will be out on Apollo rec. on 27th January 2014.

Impossible Partner Store Opening in Berlin presenting: Oliver Blohm

c-heads_impossible_oliverblohm_web_01

It was quite some time ago that we had a chat with Florian ‘Doc’ Kaps and André Bosman, the founders of the Impossible Project. So what are they about again? Well, they togehter bought the last factory in the world manufacturing Polaroid instant film. “In October 2008 The Impossible Project saved the last Polaroid production plant for integral instant film in Enschede (NL) and started to invent and produce totally new instant film materials for traditional Polaroid cameras. In 2010 Impossible saved analog instant photography from extinction by releasing various, brand new and unique instant films.” Great timing I would say with people now appreciating the old techniques so much again!

So it´s great to hear an update about the project and I mean what better city could they find rather than Berlin to open their brand-new Impossible Partner Store now! So this Thursday, 23rd of January you are all invited to celebrate with them the stunning location with space for for exhibitions, events and workshops, as well as the A to Z of instant photography.

For the opening photographer Oliver Blohm will show some of his instant photography work over there in an exhibition called “The Impossible Nuke”.

“The main focus of the exhibition “The Impossible Nuke”, will be an experimental fashion editorial named Hatzfrass / Fast Foodm which was produced in collaboration with Pablo Patané (fashion editor), Maria Ehrlich (make-up), as well as Sasha Marini and Jonas Wolfgang (Viva Models Berlin) and with Impossible and their film material. During the opening I will be giving a workshop where you will get the chance to take your own instant photo and have it “nuked”.”

Furthermore there will be good music and drinks, Max Albàn (Alphawesen/Weworktomorrow) will be spinning records for us and there’ll be more than enough refreshing beverages from the partners Warsteiner, Fiji Water and Campari. See ya there!

When: Thursday January 23rd/ 6-10 pm.
Where: Impossible Partner Store
Sofortbild-Shop Berlin
Mulackstraße 22, 10119 Berlin

Born in 1981 in Sofia, Vladimir Karaleev moved to Berlin at age 19 to study fashion. This year at the Berlin Fashion Week he again showed a very simple and wearable collection with an elegant touch. Lots of wool, crepe and combined with a combination of neoprene and polyester. All this in subtle colors like black, light grey or bordeaux.

Wundervoll.

dogma

Julian Zigerli couldn´t have chosen a better location for his play than the Delphi Stummfilmkino to present his latest collection at the Berlin Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. His approach was really unusal. The five models placed on the stage were slowly taking off and putting on the clothes, while actress Petra Schmidig was narrating about finding and being found by the perfect person for oneself- “The one and only”. Her talk was so full of emotion, without forgetting to put one or the other joke in between, that I sometimes forgot to focus on the collection. But the strong presence of the models always teared your attention back to it. Julian Zigerli collaborated with the Parisian graphic artists GOLGOTHA and with the new collection he recognizes nature´s beauty. Definitely one of the most unusal fashion shows we have seen so far, and for sure one we will keep in mind. Enjoy the gorgeous impressions photographed by Nico Stinghe at anothersidewalk whose images transmit perfectly the feelings of the show.

ISABEL VOLLRATH

“Last week I was one of many people who had the opportunity to witness and experience the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Unfortunately I have not had chance to see all the shows, but the ones I saw made me discover a new side of Berlin – fashion. A very different environment than I was used to in Portugal and where I had the opportunity to enter into magnificent spaces where some designers presented their collections. With different designs, all marked their position and were congratulated from all their friends and followers. Not being a city that stands out for this subject, I did not have any expectations but, in fact, some of the designers surprised me positively. In addition with the fashion shows, I had the chance to attend some after-parties of some designers as well as the Fier Vitrine event, where new talents showed their work to the public. A full week from morning until night that I look forward to repeat.”
