‘We have a little crush on Dorit Chrysler – she is one of those artists that doesn´t seem to make a big fuzz to be on everywhere´s headline, – she sneaks into your life almost unnoticed, yet with such a sublte intensity and her record of artistic accomplishments is enormous.
We are over the moon to host the Austria Video Premiere of her newest visual bomb “The Swamp Behind My House”, that is the ending piece on her “Avalanche EP” released on Trentemøller’s very own In My Room-label.
Zack Richard filmed this masterpiece, feeling inspired by Dorit Chrysler´s work, he approached her with this amazing short film right after it was shot. “The idea came from an actress who I had worked with. She wrote a tweet saying she wished she had gone to model in Asia. I then had the idea of a model going abroad and using her beauty to taking advantage of local businessmen. Dorit’s song really brought the film to life and added a dark and surreal layer. I love her sound, its from the present and the past all at once. I am also trying to make films that are hard to pin-point exactly when they were made. I wanted to do a video that felt like a mixture of a Won Kar Wai and a Micheal Mann film.”
The metropolitan Austrian musician and composer fascinates with her theremin style, and we actually didn´t really know about the electronic musical instrument theremin before listening to Dorit´s work, and only then we realised it is without physical contact that one has to play it.
So while Dorit is having a busy winter with concerts in Bogota, Columbia, some concerts in Europe, NYC, and also working on her new record we are leaning backwards indulging into her music. When I was listening to this track I was thinking to myself what a perfect movie soundtrack that is, so it doesn´t come as a surprise that she is also currently polishing a soundtrack for a horror film by James Photopoulos. We will definitely check that one out – but now let yourself be seduced by ”The Swamp Behind My House”.
